Twitter is an amazing tool for any online company or individual; it can generate business exposure, increase website traffic along with building a loyal fan base and improving sales and marketplace intelligence. With 67 per cent of Twitter users more likely to buy brands that they follow, it is no wonder so many companies have adopted the social networking site as a viable business platform.
Use Lists
The main strategy for gaining followers is following many related accounts and hoping they like your tweet content and follow back, as mentioned below. This will eventually clog up your home feed with tweets from accounts you’re simply not interested in and which you might not want to read. To overcome this issue, I use lists. With lists, you can easily group together a number of twitter accounts that you think post quality content that you will want to read. While you are making your own lists, you can also subscribe to other people’s lists.
Lists are great for organising your Twitter account feed. They will help you find high quality content, as well as to keep up-to-date with close friends; easily one of my favourite Twitter features.
Follow People
This is the simplest ways of getting the most out of Twitter. It is the reason why people have hundreds of thousands of followers. Following people + building relationships + posting quality content = Twitter success. Every social boffin knows that people love thinking you are interested in them, and by following them you are doing just that. You are letting them know you like their tweets and you like what they’re saying; most people will want to return the favour and
will therefore follow back.
To go along with the first point in this blog, lists are a great way of quietly mentioning people on twitter; simply add them to a public list and they will receive a notification. Then they will, hopefully, follow you. If you do not follow anyone, you will not be seen by as many people as you could, which means you will not have the publicity to receive followers. Really, it’s all a big marketing game.
#Hashtags
Hashtags are a great way of categorising content and seeing specified content on any subject. If you find yourself with a low follower count then using hashtags is a great way to promote the content you are sharing, join in on recent trends, or get your account noticed by others using a specific hashtag.
Be Nice
It’s simple; be nice to people and they’ll like you, follow you, and interact with you.
Integrate being nice with posting good quality links and you’ve cracked it; you are the best socialite possible.
